It was so nice to have my parents and Jaimie and Aaron and her family come to celebrate graduation with me. I am forever a student, so graduations seem more and more like beginnings than endings for me, and indeed they are. Med school has gone by really fast when I think about the big picture, but on a day to day or week to week basis things were very long and very challenging for both myself and Emily and my boys. They are truly what life is all about though, and I am grateful to be able to pursue my dreams and have their support.
We had a neat banquet the night before graduation on the floor of Reed Arena (the Texas A&M basketball arena). The following day I walked the stage and entered the medical profession. I am excited to get to work this July, but at the same time I am very intimidated and overwhelmed. It is a big step up in responsibility, and while I feel my medical education has been excellent, it is still a step into the dark.
While I will be the "doctor" in the house at the next emergency (pray to the good Lord that it won't happen the next time I go to Walmart), even still I spent Monday morning practicing a 50-50 grind on the local skate park half pipe - those thirteen year olds don't have nothing on me! You're right, I still have to grow up a little: on the other hand, there is a good chance that won't happen any time soon (hopefully Emily's patience holds up).

Congrats! We are all so proud of you. Placing myself in your shoes, I can imagine how you would feel overwhelmed at the thought of the responsibility you are taking upon yourself due to the nature of the field you have chosen to go into. However, from my vantage point, I can't imagine anyone coming out of med school and being better prepared than you. You will be an excellent surgeon! I'd trust you to fix me.

I am so proud of you too, Jaron. It was so fun to be able to attend your graduation. You have worked so hard for this and I am so happy for you. Congratulations, Dr. Sullivan. Wow... my baby brother is really a doctor.
Congratulations, Jaron! Since Craig and I have had WAY too many experiences with orthopaedic doctors, we are confident you will make a wonderful doctor; kind, caring, and conscientious! Good luck to you.
